Throughout my whole life, my parents, (especially my father) have pushed me to be the greatest I can be. I became interested in softball when I was a little girl. My father has been coaching since before I was born. My mom would take me to the games to watch, and I knew then I wanted to play softball and become a pitcher. The summer of my Freshman year was when I realized the commitment it takes to accomplish the goals I strive for. I know now that to make it where I want to be, whether it's with softball, school, or a job, that I have to give 110% and go the extra mile to achieve my goals. Now, I work harder to improve myself as an athlete and as a pitcher. By never quitting just because practice has ended, taking the extra time to strengthen my body to keep improving for my positions on the field, and to keep learning, listening, and understanding what it takes to get better! Softball has taught me to never give up because in one inning everything can change. Softball has taught me that I don't need to be anxious. It has taught me to step back, take a breather, and look for solutions to get out of a 3-2 count, bases loaded, and coach tells you to come out to finish the inning! And the excitement you feel when you know you have done exactly what your parents, your coach, and you, yourself knew you could do!!
The same philosophy I have in softball will be what I use with my school work. To work as hard as I can, never quit, and be the best I can be. The biggest goal I have made for myself is to keep my 4.0 GPA. I will be taking my ACT the summer of 2020.
Obstacles I've had to overcome would be going through therapy for my knee and back. Although these were obstacles, they didn't stop me. I still worked on my skills, just at a pace that wouldn't worsen the injury until I was back at 100%. I am not a quitter. I love the game of softball. It has given this social, active, outgoing girl a life she loves! And I can't wait for it to start when it ends every year......
